A week of parties

Today is mom's birthday, and last week was Evan's. So we celebrated as many times as we could with family get-togethers, especially because my sister Anne and her family were here from Seattle for the week. Here's the birthday girl and boy--Evan's holding his personalized art kit decorated by Abi: the theme is "Hard Attack", his signature ongoing imaginary game he's been playing for about 2 years. We thought it was "Heart Attack" for about a year until he learned to spell and informed us of its true name. As he explains it, the game is about battles between good and bad guys, hence the "attack", and war is hard. Makes more sense now why he chose that name!

He's now at level 8, he says, and in this level, the king of the bad guys has destroyed a planet and now the good guys have to find the last trap the king has set, and then he will die. Some of the good guys are: Slicer, who cuts everything in half with his sword, Power Man, a.k.a. Puncher, who destroyed the evil empire, Strong Guy, who can pick up a planet with one finger, Power Woman (Power Man's female counterpart except she's much smarter), and Axe Guy (self-explanatory). Some of the bad guys are: Crusher-Cutters (one of their hands is a very sharp scissors, the other is a very sharp rock that can crush anything in the world), Bad Guy Ghosts, who eat PBJ sandwiches, Bad Guy Robots--the leader travels in a rolling vehicle and has the power to destroy the whole world with his arms. Anyway, you get the idea. This game has provided Evan and others with countless hours of entertainment. He'll let you play if you just ask.

Evan's reading the card Maggie made for him which has a cute little flying bird saying, "La la la la la, You're a song in my heart, Happy Bird-day". She also made him a Funny Faces Lego flip book.

Evan had two cakes again this year, one from his Primary teachers, and one made to look like the Book of Mormon which is what he requested (he also wanted a scripture hero birthday party, but we didn't quite get to that part).

I had to add this one in of Lucie holding her baby cousin Clive. She said, "I hold baby Kive? Baby Kive have toes? Baby Kive have hair? Baby Kive have eyes?" which is where Jonathan had to make sure Clive didn't get his eyes poked out. She is so fascinated with him.
